Three small steps

1

Get the hardware.

Choose the touch + battery, V2 version of the Waveshare ESP32-S3-ePaper-1.54.

  • $22.99 before shipping
  • 1.54-inch, 200 × 200 e-paper
  • Touch, two buttons, mic + speaker
  • 8 MB flash + 8 MB PSRAM
Buy the board

Prototype note: the target e-paper hardware is still being physically verified.

2

Flash the firmware.

Plug in with USB-C, open the browser flasher, and press one button.

  1. Use desktop Chrome or Edge.
  2. Connect a data-capable USB-C cable.
  3. Choose Diblit and press Flash.

3

Add funds for AI.

Diblit uses two separate services: OpenAI for speech and the safety check, and JoinGonka for building the game. The prototype target is about $5 total, but the exact split is still being measured.

  1. Create a replaceable OpenAI API key with a small account budget.
  2. Create a prepaid, spend-capped JoinGonka child key.
  3. After flashing, load both device keys onto Diblit.
